How We Evaluate & Review Products at RestaurantLaunchpad
When you’re running a restaurant, the tools you choose matter — a bad POS system costs you time and money every shift. A weak food supplier tanks your margins. So we take our evaluations seriously.
Our Evaluation Framework
1. Real-World Restaurant Context
We don’t evaluate tools in a vacuum. Every product is assessed against the actual demands of restaurant operations: peak-hour pressure, staff with varying tech skills, tight margins, and the specific needs of different restaurant formats (QSR, fast-casual, full-service, ghost kitchen).
2. Hands-On Testing When Possible
For POS systems, scheduling software, and restaurant tech, we request demo access or trial accounts and test them in realistic restaurant scenarios. We document what works, what doesn’t, and what the sales page doesn’t tell you.
3. Industry Expert Review
Every major review is written or verified by Marcus Rivera or a vetted restaurant industry professional. We don’t publish reviews from people who’ve never worked in a restaurant.
4. User Feedback Integration
We monitor operator reviews on G2, Capterra, Google, and restaurant operator forums. We look for patterns — consistent complaints about support, billing issues, or missing features that matter to restaurateurs.
5. Pricing Transparency
We include real pricing information — including setup fees, monthly costs, and the hidden charges that often show up on invoices. We update pricing quarterly.
Our Rating Criteria (scored 1–10)
- Ease of Use: Can your staff actually use this without a week of training?
- Restaurant-Specific Features: Does it solve real restaurant problems?
- Reliability: What happens when it goes down during a dinner rush?
- Customer Support: Is support reachable at 7 PM on a Friday?
- Value for Money: Is the cost justified given what restaurants get?
- Scalability: Does it work for 1 location and grow to 5?
Affiliate Relationships
Some products we review have affiliate programs. If we include an affiliate link, we disclose it. Our affiliate relationships do not influence our ratings or recommendations. We’ve given poor scores to products with good affiliate commissions, and strong scores to products with none.
Update Policy
We re-evaluate products when: major feature changes are released, pricing changes significantly, patterns of user complaints emerge, or a minimum of 12 months has passed since the last review. Every review shows a “Last Updated” date.
